5 Gifts I'm Thankful For
I'll keep this brief but I wanted to note a few things that have happened in the last 24 hours that have been huge blessings:
1) Waffles
Yesterday morning my sweet husband asked me what I would like for breakfast. I was craving waffles but the idea of diving into the unfamiliar world of baking was a little daunting for him. Instead I enjoyed eggs and toast but that didn't stop me from having him pick up some pre-made waffle/pancake mix at the store. Last night some sweet ladies stopped by and what did they have but a giant bag of waffles and a second box of muffins! I literally had "muffin mix" also on the list to grab at some point. Needless to say, I cried when I saw God once again giving me this little luxury through friends who had no idea.
2) A Cleaned House
These same two ladies then went on to clean my house. I had requested that they do a quick wipe down of the sinks in the bathrooms, the toilets, sweep the floor and vacuum. I felt like that was pushing the limit of what I should ask for. I honestly expected it to take about 30 minutes between two people. Instead these two beautiful women cleaned. Like, vacuumed my entire house and scrubbed my bathrooms better than I ever do! One of them even dusted the top of my medicine cabinet (I'm pretty sure the last time anyone touched up there was when I was nesting with Eva 2 years ago)!!! As I sat in my chair and watched I was so overwhelmed. I hardly know these two women but they love me just because I'm a part of the family of God. They cleaned the house of someone who was essentially a stranger and did it through the dinner hour after a long of day of taking care of their own kids and lives. Maybe we should just make it a given that every paragraph I write should end with, "I cried." LOL
3) An Extra Day
Today my sister made the decision to extend her trip by another 12 hours meaning that we will get all of Friday with her before she heads home Saturday morning. I'm not ready to face this journey without her so that was also a huge blessing. It will also mean that she will be here for Eden's 4th birthday!
4) Washing My Own Hair
This one is maybe ridiculous but today I took a shower completely by myself and even was able to wash my hair by myself! After having to rely on other people to wash my hair for the last 16 days it felt amazing to accomplish this hurdle all on my own. I'm gaining a greater range of motion in my arms than I anticipated at this stage which is a huge relief.
5) Beauty
My lipstick plant is flowering and is absolutely stunning. Its right by my chair and I've been getting to watch it flourish. Maybe its a little thing but its another thing I'm very thankful for!
