Dear Pregnant Mommy: A Plea In Poem
I know you’re uncomfortable but please don’t complain
It’s clear you don’t feel the depth of this pain
A pain that would gladly your discomfort take
To carry a baby and hurt for it’s sake
I too know the feeling of having, “the flu”
Those weeks, and then months, of feeling gross too
But my story ended quite different from yours
With grieving and agony behind bathroom doors
I’ve too felt my body ache for relief
But my deep ache arose from the burden of grief
This is the reason I urge you to think
Of the women who hear you gripe, “Oh! This just stinks!”
This is not meant to make you feel guilty or blue
For the life God has graciously fashioned in you
Instead it is meant to make you more aware
To be thankful and cherish the discomfort you bear
For around you are women who’ve been through it too
And stand empty armed right there next to you
Each day looking forward to redemption complete
For a day when, they too, their sweet child may meet.
